My Favorite Lithuanian Recipes
This site is about traditional Lithuanian family recipes handed down to me from my mother, my grandmother, my aunts and uncles and other Lithuanian relatives and friends.
Why make a web site about traditional Lithuanian cooking? I started this site so I could share with my friends, my children and my grandchildren.
As a first generation Lithuanian-American, I grew up in Chicago, Illinois, among an extended family that feasted on authentic Lithuanian dishes mostly during holidays and special occasions. I learned to cook dozens of traditional goodies from my mom, my grandmother, several aunts, an uncle or two, and many friends.
Now I’m busy putting our family’s favorite recipes into a Lithuanian cookbook. Once that job’s done I won’t have to dig out my file box and get writers cramp whenever someone raves about my Kugelis. I’ll just point them here where they can grab the cookbook.
But my cookbook isn’t ready just yet. “Soon,” my husband says. “I’ll have it finished soon.” He’s putting it into a downloadable version for me. And when it’s ready, I’ll tell you how to get it here.
Meanwhile, browse around, try a recipe or two and sample a few of the traditional family treats that will appear in the book. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
